Decoction of mutton and lentinus edodes

Effect:

Replenishing Qi and restoring Qi, warming the middle energizer and the stomach.

 

Ingredient:

Lentinus edodes 100g, mutton 500g, a piece of tangerine peel and some salt.

 

Process:

1. Soak lentinus edodes in the water till soft and remove the stalk; soak the tangerine peel and remove the pulp inside.

2. Cut the mutton into pieces and wash it clean.

3. Put all the ingredients into the pot and boil them on strong fire. Then simmer them for 3 hours and add some salt. Now the decoction is finished.

 

Nature of Ingredients:

1. Lentinus edodes has a sweet flavor and a mild nature. Effect: restore Qi and strengthen the stomach, promote the eruption of rash and eliminate poisonous element within the body. Indications: weakness, poor appetite, tracheitis, anemia, sore throat, neurasthenia, nephritic watery distension, hyperlipemia, high cholesterol and paralysis with the leg and loin.

2. Mutton has a sweet flavor and a mild nature. Effect: Replenishing Qi and restoring Qi, warming the middle energizer and the lower abdomen. Indications: lassititude due to consumptive diseases, cold of deficiency type with the body after delivery or rehabilitation, weak spleen and stomach, abnormal pain due to periumbilical colic caused by invasion of cold.

3. Tangerine peel has a bitter and pungent flavor and a mild nature. Effect: regulating flow of Qi, improving the function of stomach, eliminating dampness and resolving phlegm. Indications: abdominal distension, vomiting, hiccup, cough and profuse sputum.

 

Note:

1. Lentinus edodes not only contains large quantities of nutrients, but also has great medical value. It is agreeable to any age group and the so-called "cold and dampness" nature of it commonly known to the town folks is groundless.

2. Mutton can be baked or fried till it is dried and giving out a good smell and thus can help to get rid of the unpleasant smell of mutton.
