An impotent man suffers a lot in mind though impotence does not
cause him physical pain. His wife will complain about him because
she cannot be sexually satisfied, which in turn will jeopardize their
passionate life. Some couples usually end up in divorce due to this
embarrassing situation in their sexual life. So what an impotent man
is eager to know is whether impotence is curable.
The answer is positive. The first step is to get to know the causes
of impotence in order to deal with a case specifically.
If it is psychogenic impotence, psychotherapy or behavioral treatment
should take the priority. Of the clinical cases, some patients usually
fail nearly all curative measures but once the doctors in charge
track down their mental causes and help correct their wrong ideas
and concerns, they will get improved and cured in a very short time.
So a doctor, when treating an impotent patient, should be sincere
and sympathetic to win the patient's trust and boost his confidence.
Confidence is the best prescription for psychogenic impotence.
If it is organic impotence, the primary disease must be cured first.
Impotence will be cured once the organic disease is cured. For instance,
the impotence caused by an endocrine disease may be treated by hormones.
If the impotence is caused by a medicine being taken by the patient,
the patient should stop the medicine or substitute another medicine
for the present one. A patient of vascular impotence may have a
vascular surgical operation as a cure. As for the incurable cases,
the patients may have a prosthetic penis implanted. In addition,
there are some nonspecific treatments that are effective to different
degrees.
