Ligation is nearly 100% effective, but it is irreversible. Although
tuballigation and vasoligation can be undone by the present-day
advanced medical science but the functions of spermatic ducts and
uterine tubes cannot be totally recovered. It is especially serious
with recovered uterine tubes, which may lead to exfetation and is
lethal. So one needs to weigh his/her steps before choosing ligation
as a contraceptive way.
The rhythm method through calculating the ovulation time
There is another contraceptive way called the rhythm method. With
training and knowledge, a woman can figure out when her ovulation
happens during her menstruation period by taking her body temperatures
and observing cervix mucus every morning. If she stops having sex
on that day and a few days before and after that day, it is safe.
The rhythm method does not need any extracorporeal substance that
usually meddles with body mechanism and sexual intercourse itself.
If it is properly used, it will be 90% plus effective for lifetime.
This method is also advocated by the Catholic Church.
Contraceptive pills and other contraceptive devices are mainly
used to stop the discharge of sperms and ova and fertilization,
or the implantation and growth of fertilized ova. As for the latter,
however, many people in the medical and religious circles consider
it similar to abortion. Of all the contraceptive methods, pills
are the most commonly used. But not long ago, it was reported that
pills caused blood vessel embolism and then deaths of women in New
Zealand, which makes many couples worried. It will be OK, however,
if you ask doctors for advice before taking.
